Basketball Game Preview: Classical Purple vs. Lincoln Lions

The Classical Purple will face off against the Lincoln Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Classical will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Classical is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Bishop Hendricken, who was ranked sixth at the time (Classical was ranked third). Classical narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Bishop Hendricken 48-45. The 48-point effort marked the Purple's lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Classical to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mohammed Fadia, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Abdul Evans, who earned 16 points.

Meanwhile, Lincoln beat Cumberland 52-41 on Wednesday.

Lincoln is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Classical, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Classical beat Lincoln 62-53 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lincoln's Camden Dichiara, who had 22 points.
