Basketball Recap: Stanton Comes Up Short

Stanton lost against Fletcher back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Stanton Blue Devils lost to the Fletcher Senators at home by a 49-33 margin. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while the Senators are ranked 119th).

Despite the loss, Stanton still got an impressive performance from Jaiden Perkins, who posted nine points and four steals.

Fletcher's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikiah Sloan led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylee Rains, who had eight points and five steals.

Stanton now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Fletcher, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

Stanton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 53-45 defeat against St. Augustine on the 12th. As for Fletcher, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-41 victory against Episcopal School of Jacksonville on the 13th.
