Recap: Mar Vista Mariners vs. Sweetwater Red Devils
Even though the Sweetwater Red Devils scored an imposing 62 points on Thursday, the Mar Vista Mariners still came out on top. Mar Vista walked away with a 73-62 win over Sweetwater. That's another feather in the cap for Mar Vista, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Mar Vista found their leader in underclassman Darius Montgomery, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Montgomery is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Jahaziel Catano was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Mar Vista's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Sweetwater, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mar Vista will take on Victory Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Victory Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Mar Vista likes a good challenge. Sweetwater won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Hilltop at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th.
