Basketball Recap: Hampton Roads Academy Navigators vs. Virginia Academy Patriots
Hampton Roads Academy and Virginia Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Hampton Roads Academy had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 78-46 loss at the hands of the Virginia Academy Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Navigators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Patriots are ranked third).

Hampton Roads Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nalani Carter, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 15 points and eight rebounds. Carter has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Cooper, who shot 47% from the field on her way to 14 points and seven rebounds.
Hampton Roads Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Virginia Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.
