Baseball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central and Sikeston pushed the score to 14-6 the last time they played Sikeston, but on Tuesday defenses reigned supreme. The Tigers fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 1-0. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Chapman Ogles spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Sikeston, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will host Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sikeston, they will square off against Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
