Basketball Game Preview: Tonopah Muckers vs. Indian Springs Thunderbirds

Tonopah is 8-2 against Indian Springs since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tonopah Muckers will challenge the Indian Springs Thunderbirds at 8:00 p.m. Indian Springs took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Tonopah, who comes in off a win.

Indian Springs will be up against a hot Tonopah squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Tonopah took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 57-23 win over Beatty. With the Muckers ahead 27-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Adelaido Salgado went supernova for Tonopah, as he made all 5 shots he took for 13 points and seven steals. Salgado has become a key player for Tonopah: the team is 10-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 3-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Villa, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Tonopah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Indian Springs faced off against Spring Mountain on Friday. Indian Springs was beaten by Spring Mountain 58-28.

Indian Springs now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Tonopah, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Tonopah came out on top in a nail-biter against Indian Springs when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 45-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tonopah since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
