Basketball Recap: Jax Barrera Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Valley View

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo lost to Valley View back in November of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears walked away with a 59-49 victory over the Valley View Tigers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jax Barrera, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidon Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-14. As for Valley View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-63 loss against Port Isabel on the 3rd. As for Valley View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Benito at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
