Softball Recap: Ponaganset Comes Up Short

East Providence hit Ponaganset with a six-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chieftains lost 10-3 to the Townies. The Chieftains were not able to make up for their defeat to the Townies from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Ponaganset saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Selah Mychael, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was Mychael's first of the season.

Ponaganset now has a losing record of 3-4. As for East Providence, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Ponaganset will host Prout at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Providence, they will take on St. Raphael Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
