De Pere had won three straight at home, but on Monday they bumped their record up to 7-1 to make it four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Manitowoc Lincoln Ships. The one-run effort marked the Redbirds' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

De Pere saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Wettstein, who went 2-for-4 with one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Manitowoc Lincoln fell to 10-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

On Manitowoc Lincoln's side, Brayden Steinbecker spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. Steinbecker has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, De Pere will challenge Notre Dame Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Manitowoc Lincoln, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sheboygan South at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Ships are facing the Redwings at the right time seeing as the Redwings are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
