Basketball Game Preview: South Walton Seahawks vs. Destin Sharks

The South Walton Seahawks will square off against the Destin Sharks at 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

On Saturday, South Walton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-53 to Bay. That's two games in a row now that the Seahawks have lost by exactly four points.

Meanwhile, Destin waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took their contest with ease, bagging an 84-50 win over the Royals.

Destin's win came from a few key players South Walton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Calix McCune, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Memphis DeLong, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists.

Destin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for South Walton, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9.

South Walton skirted past Destin 43-40 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Does South Walton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Destin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
