Softball Recap: Hamburg's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Hamburg had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Camden Fairview Cardinals an 8-0 shutout on Monday. The game marked the Lions' most dominant victory of the season.

M Hammond made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on L McKelvey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. E Tubbs was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Hamburg picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-9. As for Camden Fairview, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hamburg will host Monticello at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Billies will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Camden Fairview, they will square off against Magnolia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
