Baseball Game Preview: Essex Trojans vs. Lancaster Red Devils

For the second straight game, Essex will face off against Lancaster. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Essex is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lancaster just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils.

Jamie Segar was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Kameron Gaines was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Lancaster is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Essex, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
