Volleyball Recap: Holton Wildcats vs. Rossville Bulldogs

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Holton and Rossville, and Rossville kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bulldogs 25-16 in the first set.

Holton actually scored more points across those three sets (69-66), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-23, 25-21.

Marley Gilliland paced Holton's offense, picking up 13 kills. Gilliland got some help from Kinley Fluke and her 36 assists. Finally, Beka Lassey kept Holton's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Rossville found their leader in sophomore Falyn Clurman, who had seven digs and two aces.

Holton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-4 record this season. As for Rossville, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
