Baseball Recap: Desert Vista Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Desert Vista, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Sunnyslope Vikings on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Thunder also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Kason Webb looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jayden Garrison was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Noah Gutierrez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Desert Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sunnyslope only posted an OBP of .312.

Desert Vista's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 13-6. As for Sunnyslope, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13.

Desert Vista will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
