Basketball Recap: Meredith Scott's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Austin Classical over Cornerstone Christian

Austin Classical lost against Cornerstone Christian back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Austin Classical Mustangs fell just short of the Cornerstone Christian Lions by a score of 43-41. The Mustangs were up 28-12 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Austin Classical's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Meredith Scott, who almost dropped a triple-double with 11 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Foshea, who went 7 for 17 to rack up 14 points along with six boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Austin Classical was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cornerstone Christian only posted two assists.

It was another big night for Lorelei Bryant, who dropped a double-double with 34 points and ten steals for Cornerstone Christian. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which Bryant has scored at least a third of Cornerstone Christian's points.

Austin Classical has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Cornerstone Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.

As of now, neither Austin Classical nor Cornerstone Christian have any future games scheduled.
