Softball Game Preview: Rockwood Tigers vs. Rhea County Golden Eagles

The Rockwood Tigers will take on the Rhea County Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Rockwood comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Monday just wasn't the day for Rockwood's offense. They lost 14-0 to Oakdale on Monday.

Meanwhile, Rhea County came up short against Cleveland on Tuesday and fell 4-1. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their meetings with the Blue Raiders: they've now lost four in a row.

Allie Shaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Rhea County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lakyn Lockhart, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Lockhart hit this season.

Rockwood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Rhea County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
