Ionia had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Hastings Saxons as they made off with a 9-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Parker Seidelman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jaxon Palmer was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Nolan Lundstrom was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Ionia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ionia pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Hastings, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-21.

Looking ahead, Ionia will be playing in front of their home fans against Pewamo-Westphalia at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Hastings, they will face off against Cedar Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
