With the playoffs underway, it shouldn't be a shocker to learn that this has been a helter-skelter week in the power rankings. A special shoutout goes to St. Pius X's junior Grant Gunnell, who scored five total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Clear Springs got a 54 - 29 win over Pearland last week, and a key reason for the win was sophomore Isaiah Bibb. Bibb rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns. That performance made Bibb one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between The Woodlands (25th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Rockwall (31st). The Woodlands received a tough blow as it fell 23 - 7 to Rockwall. The Woodlands unfortunately couldn't repeat the imposing 58-point effort it came up with in its previous game.
No Stoppin 'Em
Angleton and Highlands went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (93) among all power ranked teams. Angleton put the hurt on Highlands with a conclusive 79 - 14 victory. Despite Angleton's win, the team was passed up by other teams in the power rankings and gave up three spots in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Dickinson (11th in the power rankings) and Atascocita (7th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. With each team boasting a good deal of offensive firepower (Atascocita has eight high-flying games in a row, Dickinson four), it will be interesting to see who can run the score up higher.
