Basketball Game Preview: Lake Oswego Lakers vs. Churchill Lancers

The Lake Oswego Lakers will venture away from home to take on the Churchill Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Oswego has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 193 points over their last three matchups.

Last Tuesday, Lake Oswego was able to grind out a solid victory over Tigard, taking the game 68-58.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Churchill). They breezed by Springfield to the tune of 74-44 on Tuesday. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Millers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Churchill's win came from a few key players Lake Oswego will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Charlie Dexter, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. He is becoming a predictor of Churchill's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Trayshawn Wright, who made all 6 shots he took for 16 points.

Churchill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Churchill's record now sits at 10-8. As for Lake Oswego, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Lake Oswego came up short against Churchill in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, falling 52-45. Can Lake Oswego avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
