Basketball Game Preview: Elba Lancers vs. Fillmore Eagles

The Elba Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Fillmore Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Elba took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hinsdale Central 58-31. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Lancers considering their 30-point performance the match before.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fillmore). They blew past Genesee Valley 94-47 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won nine in a row.

Fillmore's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.3 points. As for Elba, their win bumped their record up to 2-17.

Elba ended up a good deal behind Fillmore when the teams last played back in January of 2023, losing 67-53. Can Elba avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
