Softball Recap: Mission Valley Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rossville, Mission Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the West Franklin Falcons. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.

Maddie Kraus made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Mission Valley let Kyplee Jacobson and Kaitlyn Coursen run wild. Jacobson went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Coursen went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Coursen has hit this season.

Mission Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mission Valley's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for West Franklin, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Mission Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Falcons: the pair will be back at it again later today.
