Football Game Preview: River Valley Dust Devils vs. Show Low Cougars + Official Tickets

The River Valley Dust Devils will challenge the Show Low Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. River Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Show Low likes a good challenge.

On Friday, River Valley strolled past Dysart with points to spare, taking the game 46-30. The Dust Devils haven't had any issues with the Demons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for River Valley, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Riley Gonzalez, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

River Valley's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Nathan Bush and Gonzalez, who each picked up one interception apiece.

Meanwhile, Show Low came up short against Payson on Friday and fell 35-25. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Longhorns recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

River Valley will have to contain Jett Walker as he made an impact in Show Low's last game. He rushed for 96 yards and one TD on only five carries, and also picked up 71 receiving yards and one touchdown. Walker really tore up the turf during one magnificent 73-yard run. Kash Perkins also helped with two scores in total.

Show Low's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for River Valley, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 7-3.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. River Valley has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 280.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Show Low struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 199.1 rushing yards.
