Baseball Recap: Lipan Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Lipan's victory against Hico wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over the Tigers on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The team relied heavily on Brayden Harrison, who went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Pierce, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Lipan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .561 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Lipan pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Hico, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lipan is set to square off against their familiar foe Poolville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 4, the Monarchs 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Hico will challenge rival Santo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
