Basketball Game Preview: Oakhaven Hawks vs. Westwood Longhorns

The Oakhaven Hawks will head out to face off against the Westwood Longhorns at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Oakhaven knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Westwood likes a good challenge.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Oakhaven faced off against Memphis School of Excellence Winchester on Friday. Oakhaven blew past Memphis School of Excellence Winchester 58-38. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Amari Spates, who posted 20 points. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Aamyr Deener was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, Westwood lost to Hillcrest on the road by a 88-69 margin two weeks ago. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on February 7th (67), the Longhorns still had to take the loss.

Oakhaven is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. Westwood's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 14-11.

Oakhaven came up short against Westwood when the teams last played back in January, falling 69-56. Can Oakhaven avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
