Baseball Recap: Christian Family Academy Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Community Christian Academy, Christian Family Academy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Lake Lure Classical Academy Raptors with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Fire haven't had any issues with the Raptors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Charles Murray and Christopher Sponsellar made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Murray pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sponsellar tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That hit was his first of the season. At the plate, Murray scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Sponsellar scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Peyton Hammond was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Yoder, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.

Christian Family Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Christian Family Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christian Family Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Pinnacle Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on May 5. As for Lake Lure Classical Academy, they will head out to challenge Mountain View Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on the 24th.
