Baseball Recap: East Kentwood's Losing Streak Snapped at Ten Games

East Kentwood had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Union Red Hawks on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-2 back in April.

CALEB SWONGER tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, DREW BURTON was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was LANDON STORMS, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

East Kentwood's victory bumped their record up to 4-18. As for Union, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-17.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Kentwood will square off against Grand Haven at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union, they will face off against Thornapple Kellogg at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Hawks are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
