Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lamar). Everything went their way against the Fountain Valley Danes on Thursday as they made off with a 9-2 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 5-0.
Lamar's offense was hitting Fountain Valley from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Brendyn Batemon led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for five goals all by himself.
The victory (which was Lamar's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 22 goals over those four matchups. As for Fountain Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamar will welcome St. Mary's at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fountain Valley, they will square off against Colorado Springs Christian at 10:00 a.m. on the 18th.
