Basketball Recap: Gervais Comes Up Short

Gervais was the 55-53 winner over Santiam when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Gervais Cougars fell 54-43 to the Santiam Wolverines on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Wolverines are ranked 90th).

Gervais' loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Santiam, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gervais has already played their next contest (against Kennedy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Santiam will take on Chemawa Indian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Santiam is facing Chemawa Indian at the right time seeing as Chemawa Indian is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
