Basketball Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

Marion lost against Halstead back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Marion Warriors took a blow against the Halstead Dragons, falling 80-53. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Marion's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Wessel, who went 6 of 15 en route to 20 points. Wessel is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kadon Mercer, who went 6 for 10 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Halstead, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Marion and Canton-Galva will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Halstead, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Hillsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
