Volleyball Preview: Lawrence-Nelson Raiders vs. Elm Creek Buffaloes
The Lawrence-Nelson Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Elm Creek Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Lawrence-Nelson turned things around against East Butler on Saturday. They skirted past the Tigers 2-1.
Meanwhile, Elm Creek had just enough and edged out Nebraska Lutheran 2-1 on Saturday.
Elm Creek got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 30-32, 25-22.
Elm Creek found their leader in freshman Reece Steiner, who had 30 digs and two assists. Steiner is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Elm Creek was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in eight consecutive contests.
Elm Creek's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Lawrence-Nelson, their win bumped their record up to 4-13.
