Baseball Game Preview: Seffner Christian Crusaders vs. Santa Fe Catholic Hawks

The Seffner Christian Crusaders will face off against the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seffner Christian is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

Seffner Christian picked up another tournament win on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Freedom 5-4.

David Sidoti and Alejandro Hamana dominated on the mound. Sidoti tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Hamana tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Hamana also tossed a walk, which is notable because Seffner Christian is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Kris Colondres was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Seffner Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Brayden Nanns, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe Catholic faced Stoneman Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Santa Fe Catholic fell 5-0 to Stoneman Douglas. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Marvin Montenegro was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Seffner Christian now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Santa Fe Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.
