Softball Recap: Westborough Rangers vs. Advanced Math & Science Academy Eagles

Westborough had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it five. They lost 9-0 to the Advanced Math & Science Academy Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in April.

As for Advanced Math & Science Academy, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1. Considering they have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Advanced Math & Science Academy's part, Ava McLeod made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. McLeod has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Guilamina Yost was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Brooke Laudate was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westborough will square off against Algonquin Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Advanced Math & Science Academy, they will face off against Doherty Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
