Basketball Recap: McNairy Central Find Success

McNairy Central hadn't done well against Middleton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The McNairy Central Bobcats pulled ahead with a 35-34 photo finish over the Middleton Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats: when they faced off against the Tigers back in December of 2024, they had to take a 56-42 loss.

Despite the loss, Middleton still got an impressive performance from Tamarcus Smith, who posted 12 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards Smith has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Woody, who had two points and ten rebounds.

McNairy Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Middleton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

McNairy Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-35 loss against Crockett County on the 7th. As for Middleton, they will face off against West Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Middleton is facing West Carroll at the right time seeing as West Carroll is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
