Baseball Game Preview: Monte Vista Christian Mustangs vs. Rancho San Juan Trailblazers

For the second straight game, Monte Vista Christian will face off against Rancho San Juan. The Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trailblazers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monte Vista Christian has three straight wins, Rancho San Juan has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Monte Vista Christian barely beat Rancho San Juan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs blew past the Trailblazers 14-2 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Jackson Haddad tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over 5.1 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Mikie Melenudo was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brady Cortez, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Rancho San Juan's defeat dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Monte Vista Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
