Baseball Recap: Miami Valley Christian Academy's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Miami Valley Christian Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Summit Country Day, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Silver Knights a 7-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won four matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Evan Lafferty made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Lafferty wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Nickum, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Micah Johnson was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Miami Valley Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Summit Country Day, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Miami Valley Christian Academy will host New Miami at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Summit Country Day, they will head out on the road to square off against New Richmond at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
