Baseball Game Preview: Mariner Tritons vs. Riverview Sarasota Rams

The Mariner Tritons will face off against the Riverview Sarasota Rams at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Riverview Sarasota took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mariner, who comes in off a win.

Mariner took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Palmetto Ridge, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tritons have posted since March 26, 2025.

The team relied heavily on Colin Raftery, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Antonio Marino, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Riverview Sarasota was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to Sarasota.

Riverview Sarasota now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Mariner, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Mariner's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The Tritons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Riverview Sarasota, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mariner continue to outrun the ball?

Mariner might still be hurting after the 11-5 loss they got from Riverview Sarasota in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Tritons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
