Softball Recap: Granite Hills Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Granite Hills barely beat Adelanto the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars blew past the Saints 18-3 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kathryn (Kat) McCartney was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. McCartney was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mylie Shepard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alina Salgado, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

The victory (which was Granite Hills' third in a row) raised their record to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.0 runs over those games. As for Adelanto, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Granite Hills is set to take on their familiar foe Victor Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Adelanto will challenge rival Silverado at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
