West Rowan extended their winning streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Monday, bumping them up to 6-0. They walked away with a 51-43 win over the Statesville Greyhounds. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

As for Statesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. This is theirthird heartbreak in a row against West Rowan following a 35-24 back in February of 2020.

Statesville's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Waugh, who posted 16 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Graham, who scored seven points and five steals.

Looking ahead, West Rowan won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against East Rowan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Statesville, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on Pine Lake Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Greyhounds will be up against the Pride's rather soft defense (which has allowed 60 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
