Softball Game Preview: Carver A&T Wildcats vs. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars

The Carver A&T Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Carver A&T is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Carver A&T is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since April 1st on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over Dundalk. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Lily Anderson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off ten hits. Anderson was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allyson Gray, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis Mihm, who went 1-for-2 with three runs.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of Mount Carmel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Friends, falling 12-2.

Erin Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and six unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Carver A&T, their record now sits at 6-9.
