Jeff Davis scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to the Appling County Pirates. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 53-44 back in November.

Erica Clemons had an outrageously good game for Appling County as she almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. Shamiah Burnum was another key player, putting up nine points and five steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Jeff Davis and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Appling County, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jeff Davis will take on Pierce County in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Appling County and Telfair County will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Telfair County will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Appling County surely won't give up without a fight.
