South Texas Christian Academy suffers fourth straight loss at home

The South Texas Christian Academy Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Macedonian Christian 76-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points South Texas Christian Academy has scored all season.

South Texas Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leonardo Rodrigues, who scored eight points along with four steals. Rodrigues has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played.

Macedonian Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from William Ashley, II, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Ashley, II continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Ethan Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

South Texas Christian Academy bumped their record down to 3-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Macedonian Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Texas Christian Academy will challenge First Baptist at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Macedonian Christian, they will head out on the road to take on IDEA Quest College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
