Football Game Preview: Jacobs Golden Eagles vs. Cary-Grove Trojans + How To Watch

Jacobs is 1-8 against Cary-Grove since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Golden Eagles will host the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Jacobs sitting on five straight victories and Cary-Grove on six.

On Friday, Jacobs didn't have too much trouble with Crystal Lake South as they won 44-30. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Gators are ranked 248th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jacobs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michael Cannady led the charge by rushing for 172 yards and two TDs on only 15 carries. Those 172 rushing yards gave Cannady a new career-high. Caden DuMelle was another key rusher, rushing for 146 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jacobs was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 410 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 280 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Cary-Grove against Hampshire on Friday as the squad secured a 40-7 win. Considering the Trojans have won three matchups by more than 32 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jacobs better keep an eye on Logan Abrams. He was instrumental in Cary-Grove's win, rushing for 275 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per carry.

Jacobs' victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Cary-Grove, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-2.
