Preview: Ponchatoula Green Wave vs. De La Salle Cavalier
The Ponchatoula Green Wave are on the road again on Friday and play against the De La Salle Cavalier at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Ponchatoula's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Ponchatoula has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 24 points or more this season. They blew past Kennedy 61-37. Given Ponchatoula's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while Kennedy is ranked 138th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, De La Salle's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a hard 70-52 fall against Archbishop Rummel.
Ponchatoula's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for De La Salle, they bumped their record down to 4-9 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Ponchatoula took their victory against De La Salle in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 72-47. Does Ponchatoula have another victory up their sleeve, or will De La Salle turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
