Softball Game Preview: Honesdale Hornets vs. Western Wayne Wildcats

The Honesdale Hornets will head out to square off against the Western Wayne Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Honesdale is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Honesdale fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Carbondale Area on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 5-4.

Meanwhile, Western Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Mid Valley, falling 16-6.

Hannah DeStefano was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Khloe Mistishin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Western Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Honesdale, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Honesdale took their win against Western Wayne in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
