Basketball Game Preview: Academy for Classical Education Gryphons vs. East Laurens Falcons + How To Watch

The Academy for Classical Education Gryphons will face off against the East Laurens Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Academy for Classical Education came up short against Jefferson County and fell 69-56. The loss was the Gryphons' first of the season.

The losing side was boosted by Camden Bailey, who went 6-for-14 en route to 16 points and five steals. The game was his fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Jack Perry, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, East Laurens also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Southwest by a score of 70-59. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Academy for Classical Education will need to focus on slowing down Zion Dixon, one of several East Laurens players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7-for-11 to rack up 18 points and seven boards. Jeremiah Rozier was another key player, putting up 18 points and three steals.

East Laurens' loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Academy for Classical Education, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Academy for Classical Education hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.8 points per game. However, it's not like East Laurens struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.

Academy for Classical Education was taken down by East Laurens 91-33 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Thankfully for the Gryphons, Rashund Washington Jr. (who shot 80% from the field en route to 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time.
