Basketball Recap: Crisp County Falls Short of Spencer in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Crisp County couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Spencer Greenwave by a score of 51-49 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered since January 16, 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Crisp County lost, don't look at Zakariyya Dwight. Despite the final result, he went 8-for-15 en route to 18 points and six blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Oliver 4, who posted nine points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Crisp County's defeat dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Spencer, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

Crisp County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spencer, they will venture away from home to square off against Carver at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Carver knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 contests -- so hopefully Spencer likes a good challenge.
