Softball Game Preview: Smidt Tech Grey Wolves vs. Lennox Academy Panthers

The Smidt Tech Grey Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Lennox Academy Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Tuesday, Smidt Tech got the win against Camino Nuevo Dalzell Lance Campus by a conclusive 14-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Grey Wolves.

Meanwhile, Lennox Academy came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the White Tigers by a score of 11-7.

Valeria Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Lennox Academy got a massive performance out of Stacey Torres, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Torres launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Olmos, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Smidt Tech now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lennox Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Smidt Tech suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Lennox Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2020. Can Smidt Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
