Football Recap: Leakey Piles Up the Points Against Amherst

Leakey's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 68-18 win over the Amherst Bulldogs.

Mason Boatwright was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 204 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Those 204 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aden Rhiver, who rushed for 37 yards and a pair of scores.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Leakey, adding 19 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Rhiver, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Leakey's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Amherst, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leakey will face off against Heritage Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Amherst, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Dawson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
