Basketball Game Preview: Quaker Valley Quakers vs. Weir Red Riders

Having just played yesterday, the Quaker Valley Quakers will jump right back in to play the Weir Red Riders at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Quaker Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season.

Quaker Valley is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Avonworth just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Antelopes, falling 67-42. The contest marked the Quakers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Quaker Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dominic Cox-Giles, who posted seven points and 12 rebounds, and Sam Chapman, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points. Cox-Giles has been hot, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last six times he's played.

Meanwhile, Weir was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 75-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Toronto. While losing is never fun, the Red Riders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 516th in West Virginia, while the Red Knights are ranked 172nd in Ohio).

Weir's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Quaker Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
