Softball Recap: Midland's Winning Streak Snapped at 15 Games

It was a good run, but Midland unfortunately witnessed the end of their 15-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Abilene Eagles by a score of 3-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Malayah Carillo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, Midland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marley Porter, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Midland's loss dropped their record down to 19-3. As for Abilene, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-7.

Midland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 win against Permian on the 18th. As for Abilene, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-0 victory against Memorial on the 18th.
